As part of their Data Literacy training Initiative, Statistics Canada has released a new self-learning educational tool called Statistics: Power from Data. This tool contains a series of written modules, intended for students, teachers, or the general population, aimed at helping equip them with the knowledge needed to understand and make use of data in today's society. In advance of the 2021 Census dissemination releases, Statistics Canada has released the first set of geographic and reference products from the 2021 Census. This set of products, which are now available to download, includes a selection of boundary files, road network data, correspondence files, and the new Dissemination Geographies Relationship File.

Statistics Canada has launched the Real-time Local Business Conditions Index as an experimental statistic to measure business activity in real time during the pandemic and beyond. The index tracks business conditions in Calgary, Edmonton, Montréal, Ottawa–Gatineau, Toronto, Vancouver, and Winnipeg.
Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation has worked with local experts and consultants to research and create the Waterloo Region's 2021 Vital Signs® Report that specifically focuses on one of the most pressing issues in our community – Affordable Housing. The report features data from the CDP catalogue. Join the KWCF on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 1:00 pm as they launch the report, present key findings and discuss opportunities for its use.
Next week, the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) will be hosting a virtual workshop titled Workshop on Data for Inclusive SDG Monitoring in Canadian Cities. Statistics Canada have released an article in The Daily titled Defining Canada’s Downtown Neighbourhoods: 2016 Boundaries which presents their boundaries of downtowns, based on the 2016 Standard Geographical Classification, and describes the methodology used to create them. The boundaries will be revised in 2021, when the Dissemination Areas from the 2021 SGC are finalized.
