Department of Finance Canada have released a report titled Measuring What Matters: Toward a Quality of Life Strategy for Canada as part of their development of a Quality of Life Framework, and to "seek input into a new approach the government is developing to define and measure success and make better use of data and evidence to improve its decision-making".
On May 3 at 1:00 pm EDT, Statistics Canada, in collaboration with Nunavut Arctic College (Iqaluit), will be virtually hosting the 2021 Census kick-off event. Register for the event here. On May 6th, 2020 at 3:00pm ET, National Equity Atlas will be holding a webinar to coincide with the launch of their Racial Equity Data Lab, a new space on the Atlas with tools for telling equity stories, including maps, ready-to-use datasets and data visualizations. The webinar will offer more information on the Lab, how it can be used, and how National Equity Atlas are using it to support equity campaigns.
Later this month, Statistics Canada will be offering a webinar on the Canadian Housing Statistics Program and an information session on data visualization for free. Statistics Canada have announced that they are planning to hire 32,000 new employees in preparation for the 2021 Census. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the census will be conducted contact-free where possible, with respondents being encouraged to complete the survey online, on paper or by phone.
