Description

The credit report characteristics dataset provides aggregate information on credit holders by six-digit postal code (FSALDU). Variables include non-mortgage consumer debt, the risk of defaulting on a credit payment and the risk of bankruptcy.  The data include a count of all credit files, a count of all credit files that are included in each variable, as well as the maximum, minimum, mean, median, sum, and standard deviation for each variable.

The credit risk score and bankruptcy score can be interpreted using the 'Odds charts files' that are zipped together with the data file. Odds charts indicate the number of records that can be expected to perform negatively for a given score range ("Bad Rate") as well as the approximate odds of negative performance. These data can be used along with the distribution values (mean, standard deviation) of the credit report characteristics to determine the proportion of the population expected to experience bankruptcy or default on a credit payment.

Notes

The variables description file is now included with the data file (see the Notes tab).
