David Eggen at Friends of Medicare in collaboration with local Edmonton CSDS members led a Save our Census Health Action that was featured on 630 CHED, Edmonton’s leading private talk radio station: Support grows for the long form census:

"Public health services use census data to make decisions regarding local health and the census also provides the basis of population-based research into medical conditions and diseases. The President of the Canadian Society for Epidemidology and Biostatistics, Dr. Colin Soskolne, says the long-form census has made Canada internationally renowned for it's ability to address public issues."

"It helps us identify groups," Dr. Soskolne says. "Groups that require special targetted services and messaging, among many other things. It's fundamental to how we count and how we provide an evidence base for decision making. If you remove the manditory form, it then becomes ad-hockery into the future."
