About the organization
ABC Head Start is a children’s charity that provides early learning and childhood development support. Families served have young children (0-5) who are neurodivergent and facing multiple vulnerabilities such as poverty among other factors. 80% of ABC families report a country of origin outside Canada and 66% speak a first language other than English. ABC HS serves more than 400 children each school year, at multiple locations throughout the City of Edmonton. The ABC team includes Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapy, Behaviour Consultants, Certified Teachers, and Early Childhood Educators. ABC HS conducts their own internal evaluations and research activities while also participating in several longitudinal research partnerships with the University of Alberta, MacEwan, and various community coalitions. ABC HS was founded in 1985.
