The Innovative Solutions to Homelessness funding stream supports the development of innovative approaches to reducing homelessness. Funding can be used to support activities in three key areas: community-based innovative projects to reduce homelessness and/or the cost of homelessness; building strategic partnerships with key stakeholders; and testing and/or sharing tools, social metrics, and research findings geared towards homelessness.

There are two projects open for proposals:

  • Contribution projects
Applicants are invited to submit proposals for projects that develop innovative and effective best practices or innovatively build capacity to prevent or reduce homelessness in Canada. Successful applicants will receive funding between $25,000 to a maximum of $500,000 to create and/or evaluate concrete and potentially groundbreaking best practices that can be used to improve client outcomes.
  • Microgrants
Applicants are invited to submit proposals for small scale experimental projects or prototypes up to a maximum of $25,000 in grant funding to develop and/or evaluate effective, innovative and potentially groundbreaking practices, tools, or initiatives that prevent or reduce homelessness in Canada.

Once your application is completed, submit all required documents by email to hkd-dci@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca.

If you are already working on a project related to homelessness, apply to get some funding! All not-for-profit organizations, individuals, research institutes, and more are eligible.
